Love is a Many Splendored Thing

Dear friends,

I am not dead! I do, however, feel like I'm dying when I walk out my front door. I have lived in Texas for most of my life, and yet, I am always amazed at how sizzling it can be during the summers here. Maybe, if I was at the beach in a 1950s bathing suit with my honey, like one of the ladies in the above picture, I would not mind it as much. Unfortunately, there will be no vacations this summer as I am working and taking summer courses.

Here is what I have been up to since I last posted:
  • I finished my sophomore year at UNT.
  • I was hired as a sales associate at Anthropologie.
  • I was a a bridesmaid for my dear friend Emily.

I will post pictures from the wedding once they are released by the photographer.
Until then, here are a few of her bridal portraits, taken by the talented Elizabeth Wisdom:

Her gown- is it not magnificent? Step aside, Princess Kate!

It is almost as beautiful as she is.

Emily is now in California with her wonderful husband, Sean. He is studying film there. I have been friends with the lucky bride since my freshman year in high school - so I miss her quite terribly! But I know that she is in good hands; Sean is a spectacular young man and he adores her! I am so excited for them.

Have any of your friends tied the knot this summer?

    Yours truly,

    Bonnie

    Style Crush: Clara Bow

Recently I watched the silent film, "It," starring Clara Bow. I'm usually not a fan of romantic comedies, but I fell in love with this one.

The film is about shop girl named Betty Lou, (Clara Bow), who works at a large department store known as "Walthams." The handsome owner of Walthams (Antonio Moreno), notices her while dining at "the Ritz," and is instantly captivated by her beauty and presence. Betty captivates him so because she posses "IT." "IT" It is described as a "peculiar quality... which attracts others of the opposite sex. The possessor of 'IT' [is] un-selfconscious, and [has] that magnetic 'sex appeal' which is irresistible."

The outfits that she wore in the film were adorable, and she was equally as fashionable in real life.

She had a flirtatious, feminine, and classic sense of style.

Her quirky sensibility, glamorous style and alluring beauty still mesmerize people today.

These pictures were actually taken yesterday. I was quite pleased with how they turned out, so I did very little editing.

I bought this lovely romper at ModCloth during the cabin fever sale. I love it! It looks black in the pictures but I think that it is actually a dark blue. I'm beginning to fall in love with rompers, jumpers and play suits. They're perfect for spring, but unfortunately it will be too hot in the summer to wear them. I'll have to stick to free flowing dresses when that day comes. Oh the joys of living in Texas! I do dread the summers here.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Bonjour, Spring!

Hello friends! This is my first "real" blog post! Hooray!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Bonnie and I attend the University of North Texas, where I study Fashion Merchandising. Before I transformed into a "fashionista", I was a thespian. Theatre is still something that I am passionate about today, and my love of fashion stemmed from my love of costume. My favorite eras are the Baroque and the Victorian, and my style is heavily influenced by the 1950s and 1960s. I try to buy indie designer, vintage and recycled pieces as often as possible, but I indulge in fast fashion as well! I love thrifting, especially since I'm a college student on a tight budget.

(I'm also quite silly. Anyone looking for a pinup model?)

I started this blog as a way to document my outfits, journal my life experiences and discuss my interests in various art forms.

I apologize for the lack of outfit pictures here! It was so windy today that I ended up choking on my (recently dyed) hair in nearly every photo (see above), and my collar and dress were all over the place.

P.s. I was recently featured in a university style blog, University of Vogue . Check it out!

Have a wonderful week! Thank you so much for visiting!
